I am concerned because the world seems post-apocalyptic in so many ways. I think creatively, this gives us all a lot to say.
Children should be seen and not heard | It's not your issue! |
Nice girls wait to be asked Why do you care so much? | Shut up |
YOU CAN'T TELL THAT STORY!
Don't talk back..
Ssssshhhhhhhh (Ever notice there is a "shush" in the word She?)
We have all been silenced. The Allies lunch and Renegades of Diversity seek to stop this circle of silence. Honor those who write books that challenge the single story mentality. Question those that don't digger deeper or get it wrong. Be those writers that risk getting it wrong to dig at getting it right.
By telling stories for the kid that NEEDS to read it, we tell all the other readers, "That kid, over there, she matters."
When we read books we build an empathetic bridge as readers to those characters. Characters imprint themselves on your soul. Public Domain, the complete works of all media in the world. Our soul is a library of personal experiences, memories, stories, books, facts and emotional truths. IF WE SHAPE THE STORIES, WE HELP SHAPE THE THOUGHT PROCESS.
